BITTERSWEET SPRITZ

As the newest spring addition to the Klocke Estate Distillery ‘Estate Collection’ menu, I present the Bittersweet Spritz. Showcasing Klocke’s Bittersweet’ vermouth, comprised of estate grown Vidal blanc grapes fortified with grape brandy & macerated with 20+ botanicals.

RECIPE:

  • Klocke Estate Bittersweet Vermouth 2 parts

  • Braulio Italian Amaro 2 parts

  • Klocke Estate Creme de Menthe 1 part

  • Bar Spoon Birch Bark Syrup

  • Topped with Josep Foraster Cava Macabeu

On the palette, it showcases rich notes of vanilla, rosemary, orange, and cola that pairs harmoniously with the cool peppermint of Klocke Estate Creme de Menthe liqueur and Braulio’s bitter wintergreen quality.

Finished with mint and a house made birch bark syrup sourced from Mountain Rose Herbs - It has a layered, herbaceous, and woody characteristic that is reminiscent of Birch Beer.

Inspired by regional flavors, I based this drink around the flavor profile of Boylan’s birch beer - One of my favorite drinks growing up in the North East. Traditionally brewed in the spring time, this cocktail is a a tribute to a beverage older than America itself.
